Despite the health crisis, Alexis Loison’s program remained busy. Zoom on the skipper’s next challenges with a brief look back at his results during the Solitaire du Figaro.
This year’s Solitaire du Figaro had a taste of the unfinished. Indeed, the competition sounded its final clap early because of the cancellation of the 4th leg due to complicated weather conditions and non-existent wind. The prize-giving ceremony then took place on Sunday, September 20 in the port of Saint-Nazaire.
But who says no fourth round, says no change in the overall standings which leaves Alexis Loison in 14th place for this 51st edition. A result necessarily frustrating and below his expectations.
« I’m obviously disappointed with my final placement, said Alexis Loison. I’m still keeping in mind the good things I did, especially my podium in the first stage of the race. I also had some good speed phases but unfortunately I didn’t make the right choices all the time. I have no regrets because this feedback is always good to take for the years to come. I obviously keep the motivation and the determination to succeed in my goal and climb on the podium of this incredible race that every year surprises me! »
Alexis’ 2020 program doesn’t stop there, new challenges await it, and not the least.
« I’m going to take part in the ‘Young Norman Talent’ scheme organized by the Normandy Region. It consists of selecting the person who will sail the Figaro in 2022 and 2023. The selection process will take place at the end of October. 2021 will be a challenging year for me because in addition to my program I will have to train my successor. It is a challenge that I take up with pleasure and I am delighted to be able to contribute to the training of the future skipper of the Normandy Region. »
Prior to that, Alexis Loison took part in the Voiles de Saint-Tropez in early October, which he won in the TP52 catogeria aboard the “Spirit of Malouen”. Our skipper should have followed up with the “Le Havre Allmer Cup”, the last event of the 2020 French Elite Offshore Racing Championship, scheduled from October 8 to 17, but it was cancelled due to a lack of participants.
