Following the health crisis, Alex Grand-Guillot has faced a very quiet 2020 season notably because of the cancellation of the world circuit but the recovery is coming soon for our Normandy windsurfer.
After the deconfinement, Alex Grand-Guillot had time to train and take advantage of the weather conditions at home while waiting for his next competitions. Recently, our windsurfer received some very good news.
« At the end of October, we received confirmation that the French Championship will once again be organized by the PNH, explains Alex Grand-Guillot. The competition will take place over a ‘waiting period’ weekend between November 14 and December 6. I’m really happy that it will be maintained because it’s an important competition and I’ve been training for it! This year will be a little bit special for me because I will not only participate as a sportsman I will also participate in the organization and communication of the Championship. We hope to have a big storm to have a spectacular and media event! »
But it’s not the only competition for Alex Grand-Guillot this year.
« I will also participate in the Waves Games that will take place at La Torche from October 17 to 25. It’s not a competition in itself but rather a promotional event that brings together 4 disciplines: surf, paddle, kitesurf and windsurf. The invited sportsmen and women are the 10 best French riders in each category with a few more seeded riders. The course is the same as a normal competition but we are less numerous. The spirit of competitiveness is a little less present and it gives way to a good atmosphere between sportsmen. We go there to have fun and to make the show even if it allows me to have a training and to get back in the spirit of competition before the French Championship. »
Between his training sessions and his physical preparation, Alex Grand-Guillot was also able to make progress on his video project.
« During this rather special year, we had to manage to remain very active on social networks. So I focused on my content creation projects to make a lot of photos and videos for my community. A nice video project will also be delivered at the end of the year, I can’t wait to share it! »
In the meantime, Alex Grand-Guillot is in the starting blocks for his first competitions of the year with the objective of a top 5 for the French Championship.
[UPDATE] On Thursday, November 5, 2020, the PNH announced the cancellation of the French Championship of Funboard Wave 2020 :
« Due to recent government announcements related to the Covid 19 health crisis and the instructions we received from the Prefecture of the English Channel and the French Sailing Federation, we have taken the decision to cancel this nationwide competition which, you will understand, is becoming impossible to implement in the current context.
Please be aware that we are already positioned for the organization of the event in 2021 and hope to always be able to count on your participation for the realization of this high level sporting event. »
