An outstanding organisation of the HNP, athletes ready to fight and a perfect storm: the 2019 French Funboard Wave Championship was breathtaking! A look back at this competition.
On Sunday, December 8, the 40 best Frenchmen, including 32 men and 8 women, competed on the spot of Siouville to win the title of Champion/Champion of France Funboard Wave 2019.
The athletes provided the show all day long with fairly difficult but perfect weather conditions for the competition: strong winds and waves. In groups of 4, the windsurfers challenged each other on 10-minute heats from 9am to 5.30pm.
At the end of the day, the results fell and Antoine Martin, winner of the Aloha Classic in Hawaii and 4th in the world, was crowned French Champion Funboard Wave 2019. On the second step of the podium, we find the local and member of the PNH Yann Sorlut who beat Nicolas Akgazciyan de Leucate in the Aude.
On the women’s side, Marine Hunter took first place and became the 2019 French Champion in Funboard Wave 2019, followed by the Breton Cloud Lederff and the Urvillaise Camille Levos.
Our Normandy windsurfer, Alexandre Grand-Guillot, finished 5th in the championship and 2nd in the super session on Monday, December 9. He intends to come back even stronger for the 2020 French Championship!
