On June 9, 2021, miles away from France, the « Technology Showcase » took place, an event organized by Kadego-Cadgile, the Australian entities of Groupe FIVA. On the program, demonstrations, exchanges and refreshments: all the ingredients were there to discover the tools of Industry 4.0.
Industry 4.0 tools, such as virtual reality and augmented reality, are no longer futuristic tools. They are well and truly present in the industry and the « Technology Showcase » was there to show it.
« We realized that our customers did not know that virtual and augmented reality were tools that we had already mastered, explains Gary Mc Rae, General Manager in charge of marketing and development. We wanted to show them that using these tools is no longer a distant goal, but that it is an accessible and relevant reality that our teams have mastered. »
To that end, Kadego and Cadgile invited customers, prospects, industry associations, schools and government representatives to experience these new technologies for themselves.
« In order to showcase our capabilities and achievements, we organized 5 different booths, 3 of which were dedicated to Virtual Reality and 2 to Augmented Reality, continued Gavan Doyle, General Manager in charge of innovation and production. For the Virtual Reality part, visitors had the opportunity to discover the visualization and design verification tool with its different options: for one user, simultaneously with several users or remotely including one person with a virtual reality headset and the other participants watching remotely via a tablet or a computer. Regarding Augmented Reality, we proposed a demonstration of our software on phone or tablet which is able to play animations and to display a 3D object with various information about it. We also did a demonstration with Hololens glasses which allow to combine the digital world and the real world in the form of 3D holograms which is very useful for supervisors for example because they can exchange with their team remotely in real time to control the quality of a material or to point out a defect. Note that the virtual reality demonstrator was developed in collaboration with a French trainee who will now adapt it to have one in France. »
5 stands to show 5 different uses of technology with rhythmic timing!
« Every 10 minutes a bell rang to indicate the end of the session and thus the rotation of the groups at the stands, explains Chris Stoker, Technical Business Development. At each booth, two employees were present to guide and inform the visitors. During the day, we organized three one-hour sessions, and after each one, there was a moment of exchange, accompanied by a small snack. This moment was mainly intended to answer the various questions of the visitors. »
As you can see, this event was an opportunity for our Australian entities to show the diversification of their activities and their capacity in virtual and augmented reality, but it was also an opportunity for them to exchange with their customers in order to better understand their needs and the obstacles they are facing in the implementation of these tools.
« We want to provide them with a complete service, says Gary Mc Rae, and that starts with demonstrating the tools available to them, but it also means listening to the customer, their expectations and their reservations. We know that these tools can have a positive impact on their daily activities, so it’s our job to help them through this 4.0 change! This event was very well received and most visitors were impressed to see all that is possible. Many clients and prospects were able to see themselves using these tools in their daily activities or as a service for their clients. »
« The entire team at Cadgile and Kadego has worked hard to organize this event, continued Chris Stoker. We would like to make this an annual event so that our customers and partners have a regular opportunity to visit our facilities and see how we are advancing the technology. We also plan to hold similar, more focused events to meet the specific needs of some of our customers. »
A rich experience feedback for the Kadego-Cadgile teams as well as for the visitors who asked for more. See you next year then!
