DIVA Ingénierie is heading for Brittany with the objective of developing its activity in Lorient. Naval Group is eagerly awaiting this presence, as it wants the entity to be available on site for its future projects in Brittany.
As a partner of Naval Group and thanks to the two framework contracts covering moving in, industrialization and functional studies, design, calculations and hull and structure drawing, DIVA Ingénierie is systematically consulted on new projects.
It was therefore only natural that when the Gowind program (corvette) case opened, DIVA Ingénierie and SOFRESID responded to the call for tenders and were selected.
« This collaboration is beneficial for DIVA because SOFRESID is already established in Lorient, explains Jean-Michel Louveau – Head of DIVA Engineering Activities. Naval Group was also very interested in having DIVA there so we didn’t hesitate for a minute. »
As part of the Gowind programme, the entity will be in charge of moving in and hull and structure studies for certain areas. Work will begin in October and continue until the summer of 2020.
« We will start with a team of 5-6 people on site, Jean-Michel explains. In the long term and with the aim of making our activities in Brittany sustainable, we want to have a local office to facilitate recruitment and team management. »
Once the Gowind program is finalized, the DIVA – SOFRESID collaboration will focus on the FDI program (Defence and Intervention Frigate) to conduct move-in and hull and structure studies.
«All these activities will prepare us for the future of future programmes such as aircraft carriers, for example. This allows us to be present at the other Naval Group sites and to develop our business. »
And DIVA Engineering does not intend to stop there. Indeed, discussions are underway for potential activities on Naval Group Indret (la Montagne near Nantes). To be continued!
