The 2019 Szabo Viollette Challenge has kept all its promises!
On Saturday, June 8, the second edition of the Challenge Violette Szabo. As tradition now requires, this meeting between the women’s teams of the Rugby Club of the French Navy (RCMN) and the British Army. These two teams had a single objective: to leave with the trophy!
On that day, at the Maurice Postaire stadium, the entertainment began at 1:30 pm with the presence of firefighters, clearance divers, make-up stands, demonstrations… But everyone was waiting for only one thing: the start of the match.
At 3pm, the long-awaited time had arrived. That’s when the Caiman Marine helicopter landed above the stadium to drop the match ball. After this beautiful surprise, the serious things could finally start!
The spectators were treated to a close match, full of twists and turns with players who wanted it, but only one team had to win.
The stands were breathless until the last seconds of play and then the CNMN players’ victory song resonated in the stadium thanks to their 12-10 victory.
Congratulations to the CNMN players for this victory and I look forward to next year!
